I met Zoe when we were both little girls. What brought us together? Our moms—
they have been friends for decades. The moment I met Zoe, our eyes met, and I
knew she was an angel. She cannot speak, but through her eyes I hear her voice.
Zoe is strong and determined, funny and kind. But like the other thousands of girls
with Rett Syndrome, she is trapped in her own body, unable to express what she
feels, what she wants, or what she hopes for. Zoe’s resilience and beautiful spirit
inspired me long ago to learn more about Rett Syndrome, to help the girls with this
devastating disorder, and to work for a cure through fundraising and research.
If you know Zoe, you know she wears a beautiful infinity scarf every day. The scarf
helps with her sensory issues and occupies her hands. As part of my commitment
to helping girls with Rett Syndrome, I created gift bags to give to girls at Rett clinics
around the country. The gift bags include a hand tie dyed purple infinity scarf and
two friendship bracelets, one for each girl and one for her caretaker. I hope you will
