Clara is a joyful 2 year old who loves food, playing in water, swinging at the park and playing with her Sister in any way she can. Clara can’t express what she wants or how she feels or tell her Dad “I love you”, yet her personality shines through in her contagious smiles and adorable stares. She is truly an angel.
In Feb 2022 we received the official diagnosis that Clara has Rett Syndrome. Suddenly the life we envisioned for our Clara changed as we learned that she would probably never talk and will require lifelong care. Rett Syndrome can be described as having symptoms of Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Epilepsy. We live each day to the fullest with our Clara not knowing what the next day will bring.
Clara works hard every week in countless hours of therapy to strengthen her muscles, maintain skills, and learn new ones. We are hopeful she will learn to walk with the enthusiastic help and cheering of her 4 year old sister Lily.
The more we work through the challenges that Rett brings into our life the more our family feels there just needs to be a cure. Research is truly the source of finding a cure and we believe there is hope that Clara will see a cure in her lifetime. We have partnered with the Rett Syndrome Research Trust and hope you might join us! Every dollar donated goes toward the research that will give Clara the chance at living the life every child deserves.
