Our daughter Jayla is a 4-year-old Rett Warrior! She was diagnosed on 2/1/23, with Rett syndrome. The day we began to grieve the loss of the future we pictured for our little girl… the day that forever breaks a parent’s heart…
Rett syndrome is known to have the symptoms of Autism, Epilepsy, Parkinsons, Anxiety, Cerebral Palsy, Nonverbal, Breathing abnormalities, and GI issues, all in 1 child… You watch your child regress and lose skills they once had… not knowing when Rett will stop taking…
Living with Rett is not easy as it impacts every aspect of her life; issues with breathing, choking with foods, assistance with walking, low muscle tone, loss of skills, lost her speech, and daily seizures in her sleep. Through it all, she smiles with such light. A light that keeps us going through hard times. She is truly the happiest little girl!
We made it our journey to spread awareness in hopes to get us to the cure one day! So in honor of Jayla, we started a small business called “RETTY For a Cure!” We hope you will join us on this journey by spreading awareness, and donating to this wonderful organization that funds today’s science that is working hard on the cure for Rett! (There are several gene therapy trials happening and more to come!)
There is hope, and together we will make a future where no more children and families will fear Rett!
