Molly is a beautiful and strong 12-year-old who loves animals, swimming, music and being with her family and friends. Her laugh is contagious and her smile is heartwarming! Molly was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a severe genetic disorder caused by a random mutation, in 2015. Although Rett syndrome is very challenging and affects all aspects of Molly’s life, she never gives up. Every single day she wakes up with a smile on her face and lives life to the fullest. Her will and determination make her a true hero.
Molly is hopeful for a cure and looks forward to the day she can live an easier and more independent life. That cure is a very realistic possibility. Remarkably, the disorder has been successfully reversed in mouse models. Scientific approaches such as gene therapy and RNA editing are making promising progress towards changing the lives of children and adults with the disorder. But funding is urgently needed to grow this research momentum and get us to a cure. We are proud to support a non-profit organization called the Rett Syndrome Research Trust (RSRT). RSRT is advancing genetic-based research that attacks Rett syndrome at its core and aims for a cure for Molly and 350,000 others who struggle so bravely with this disorder.
